North Korea launched new Hypersonic Missile
North Korea, a
controversial nuclear-armed state that has been engaged in an arms race with
major military forces across the world, has achieved a significant leap in the
race by successfully test-firing a new hypersonic missile. The missile was launched
from Jagang province, and the test analysis revealed that it met all of the
missile's technical parameters as designed. The launch of the missile named Hwasong-8,
was witnessed by top Democratic People’s Republic Korea (DPRK).
Hypersonic missiles fly at lower altitudes and can travel at speeds up to five times the speed of sound. This makes them quicker and more nimble than other missiles. The enemy's missile defence system will have a difficult time intercepting a hypersonic missile. Hypersonic weapons are regarded as the next phase of weaponry, with the target of depriving enemies of response time and traditional defeat methods.
The Hwasong-8 has
enhanced numerous aspects, including the detachable hypersonic gliding
warhead's guiding maneuverability and gliding flight characteristics. One of
North Korea's five main priorities in its five-year plan was the development of
a hypersonic missile.
North Korea's successful
entry into the hypersonic weapon club has become a serious topic around the
world, as North Korea constantly raises nuclear threats to its rivals, and it
hasn't been long since a North Korean Foreign Ministry official stated that the
formation of AUKUS could trigger a "nuclear arms race."
