In 2011, HBO made The Game of Thrones from George R.R.
Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Fire & Ice. The epic series shattered all previous
records and became a worldwide trend with a large international fan following.
There were 7 seasons and 73 episodes in all. On April 11, 2011, the first
episode aired on HBO, and the final episode aired on May 19, 2017.
The series was about the royal houses, warriors and mythical
creatures of the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos. For its epic story
arcs, production quality, characters, and performances, the series received a
lot of accolades from critics and viewers.
The series has won the most Primetime Emmy Awards of any
drama series, with 59 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2015,
2016, 2018, and 2019. Three Hugo Awards for Best Dramatic Presentation, a
Peabody Award, and five Golden Globe nominations for Best Television
Series-Drama are among its numerous awards and nominations.
Despite its high critical acclaim and awards, the series was
panned for its frequent nudity, brutality, and other adult scenes. The last season
also received rave reviews and was criticised for its lousy writing, shortened
runtime, and poor creative choices.
Despite the fact that many fans and viewers were disappointed
with the season finale, they still loved the series, and everyone was demanding
for more prequels, sequels, and spin-offs. HBO has announced several prequels
and spin-off series, including House of the Dragon, Nymeria series, 9 Voyages,
Tales of Dunks and Egg, and Flea Bottom series, and other series are also rumoured.
Now HBO has released the teaser trailer for the first season
of Game of Thrones’s first spin-off series, House of the Dragons, as a part of
HBO Max’s UK launch at the end of this October. The House of the Dragons
narrates the history of the Targaryen family and their civil war hundreds of
years before the events of Game of Thrones. Watch the Teaser Trailer below:
Teaser begins with a voice over "Kings. Gods. Fire, and
Blood". The Hand of the King pin on Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), Kign
Viserys I (Paddy Considine) holding the sword and sitting on a throne, and his
kids, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen
(Emma D'Arcy) on a beach, are shown in the House of the Dragon teaser trailer.
A Targaryen in a fight, a tourney, and Otto's daughter Alicent (Olivia Cooke)
are all shown briefly.
The teaser concludes with another voice over saying,
"Dreams didn't make us kings, the Dragons did," as we see a Targaryen
lady whose face we can't see approaching a very different Iron Throne than the
one we know from Game of Thrones.
The production of House of the Dragon began on April 26 and was delayed for a few days due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, HBO and HBO Max will premiere House of the Dragon.
As HBO Max is not available in every country, in these countries, the series
will be streamed through other streaming platforms partnered with HBO Max.
