IPL 2021: It's KKR vs CSK after the Capitals lost to the Knight Riders.
In an
exciting encounter, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by three
wickets to advance to the IPL final. Kolkata reached the target in the fifth
ball of the last over while batting second. Kolkata will meet Chennai Super
Kings in the final. Delhi scored 135 runs in 20 overs, while Kolkata scored 136
in 19.5 overs.
Delhi lost
their dream of winning their maiden title in the IPL with a loss to Kolkata.
This was Delhi's third consecutive playoffs this season. Kolkata, who have
qualified for the final, are aiming for their third IPL title.
At one point,
Delhi gave up to Kolkata, which appeared to be on the verge of a decisive
triumph. Kolkata were 123 for one in 14.5 overs. In the 15th over, Delhi
started to take the momentum from KKR. Kolkata was pushed to 130 for seven.
Everyone expected the Capitals to win when KKR struggled to put runs on the
board and continuously lost wickets in the final 3 overs. However, in the last
over, Rahul Tripathi hit a six to give Kolkata the lead when Kolkata needed 6
to win in 2 balls.
Kolkata's
victory was aided by half-centuries from Venkatesh Iyer and Shubhman Gill, as
well as good bowling from Varun Chakraborty. This is Kolkata's third appearance
in the IPL final. Kolkata had previously won the final on two occasions. Delhi
had to settle for third place after losing the match.
The
final of the IPL 2021 will put MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings against Eoin
Morgan's Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. At the Dubai International Stadium,
the match will begin at 7.30 p.m. (Indian time).
