Being first in space is always a issue between USA and Russia. Since the time of US Soviet Cold War, both giant powers of the world were competing to become first and achieve superiority in the space, and this was called the ‘Space Race’ in the 20th century.

The Space Race saw the launch of ground-breaking artificial satellites, robotic space vehicles, and human spaceflight, finally in a trip to the Moon. Both countries have made their imprint in space. The United States landed the first man on the moon and developed the first reusable space shuttle, whereas the Soviet Union developed the first artificial satellite, first man and woman in space, and first modular space station.

But after end of the Space Race and the Fall of USSR in 1991, USA and Russia are still trying to be first in many fields of Aeronautics and space.

Everyone's attention is now focused on who will be the first to shoot a film in space. Hollywood star Tom Cruise will be filming in space with SpaceX founder Elon Musk and NASA, it was announced earlier this year. However, they are currently being overtaken by Russia.

'Challenge,' a film by the Russian director, is in the works. For filming, the director and actress arrived aboard the International Space Station. Despite the fact that there have been a lot of films about space and aliens in Hollywood, this is the first time a film has been shot in space.

Russian director Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Perez are on the set and stage of this historic film. The two arrived at the International Space Station for a 12-day shoot. In 1961, Yuri Gagarin's first spacecraft was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The film revolves around a man who goes to Earth to rescue a member of the space centre who is in critical condition.

The film is being produced by Channel One Production Company and the Russian space agency, Roscosmos. After completing the filming, the actress and director will return to Earth with Oleg Novitskiy, who has been on the space station for six months.
