With Cristiano Ronaldo's late winner, Manchester United snapped Villareal's four-game undefeated streak. Barcelona was defeated by Benfica in a humiliating loss. F. Chiesa's goal helped Juventus to victory over Chelsea, the current champions. Bayern Munich triumphed 5-0 over Dynamo Kyiv. Manchester United ended Villareal's last four-game unbeaten streak with Cristiano Ronaldo’s late winner. Barcelona suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Benfica. Juventus defeat the current champions, Chelsea. Bayern crushed Dynamo Kyiv with a 5-0 victory.

Manchester United and Villareal had an exciting match, with United coming out on top. The game ended in a stalemate in the first half since no team was able to score. The second half began with Paco Alcacer’s goal at 50', and Villareal was leading until United scored the equalizer in 60’ with Alex Telles' stunner. The game was about to end in a draw as United failed to secure a win for the second time, but record-breaker Ronaldo scored a late winner at 90+5 'and led his team to victory. The 36-year old Portuguese striker, who started the game by breaking the record for most Champions League appearances, ended the match by moving to level with Aguero’s record when it comes to late winners.

Barcelona suffered a devastating defeat to Benfica, whom they had expected to take 3 points with a win by a comfortable margin. Barcelona have been trying to get back on track after Messi's departure to PSG, and yesterday night's match against Benfica provided them with an opportunity to do so. Benfica, on the other hand, defeated Barcelona by a score of 3 to 0.

In another match, Chelsea was defeated by Juventus. Chiesa scored the only goal of the game at 46’ and made it an easy win for his team.

The mighty Bayern Munich destroyed Dynamo Kyiv in 5-0 game. This match also saw the 33 year old Polish Front-man Robert Lewandowski becoming the first player in UEFA Champions League history to end on the winning side in 18 consecutive appearances. His wining reign includes victory against big names like PSG, Chelsea and Barcelona.

The Champions League will be back in October with matchday 3 of 6 group stage matches.
