As every cricket fan predicted, the encounter between the two preceding teams was an incredible classic battle.  MS Dhoni's Mighty CSK pushed EOIN Morgan's KKR to the edge and earned the last laugh in the final of IPL 2021.

CSK dominated the season and advanced directly to the finals after defeating Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1, whereas KKR struggled throughout the season and finished fourth in the table heading into the playoffs. KKR has defeated Royal Challenger Bangalore in the Eliminator and the Capitals in the Qualifier 2 to go to the final, to face CSK for the championship.

After winning the toss, the KKR chose to bat first. Despite losing the toss, the Super Kings batted brilliantly in the first innings, scoring 192 runs with only three wickets lost.

CSK reached 50 without losing any wickets at the end of the powerplay.

Sunil Narine broke the opening partnership by removing Rithuraj Gaikwad for 32 off 27 balls in the first delivery of the 8th over.

In the middle overs, Robin Uthappa, who replaced Gaikwad, gave CSK a solid push in the middle overs, but Narine struck again in the 13th over, removing Uthappa by Leg Before Wicket. Uthappa scored 31 runs in 15 balls.

Uthappa was replaced by Moeen Ali. Since then, Ali and du Plessis have started smashing the ball outside the boundary, scoring a massive total of 192 runs. Du Plessis attempted a six in the final ball from Shivam Mavi, who bowled the last over, but was caught by Venkatesh Iyer. In the last over, Mavi only gave up 7 runs. With 37 from 20 balls, Moeen Ali was not out.

In the first innings, two CSK players engaged in a fascinating race. Faf du Plessis competed for the Orange Cap with fellow CSKian Rithuraj Gaikwad. When Gaikwad's innings ended, he was on top of the list of players with the most runs in the season (635), with du Plessis in fourth place. Faf du Plessis, on the other hand, stormed to second place with 633 runs, only 3 runs behind to beat Gaikwad. Everyone thought du Plessis would win the Orange Cap at the finish of the season, but the tight last over from Shivam Mavi helped Gaikwad to secure the top position.

In the second innings, Venkatesh Iyer and Subhman Gill gave KKR a good start. At the end of the powerplay, KKR scored 55 runs without any loss of wickets.

Both opening batsmen scored a half century. But Iyer was caught by Jadeja in Shardul Thakur’s delivery. Iyer scored 50 off 32 balls and made 91 runs in the opening partnership.

In the 11th over, Thakur again took a wicket. This time it was Nitish Rana who replaced Iyer, who had gone for a duck. KKR 93/2.

Sunil Narine replaced Rana but Hazlewood dismissed him in 11.3. Narine only scored 2 of 2 balls. KKR 97/3.

Shubman Gill scored 50 off 40 balls in 12.5 overs. But he was dismissed in the next over by Deepak Chahar. KKR 108/4.

Ravindra Jadeja, who took several big smashes earlier, had his chance to shine by dismissing Dinesh Karthik, who replaced Gill. Karthik took 9 wickets as KKR scored 119/5 in 14.5 overs.

Jadeja again did it as he dismissed Shakib Al Hassan, who replaced Karthik as a duck. KKR 120/6. 73 out of 30 is needed to win.

The third wicket fell to Thakur by dismissing Tripathi (2).

Chahar caught the Skipper with an unbelievable catch in Hazlewood’s delivery. Eoin Morgan goes for four. KKR 125/8 in 16.3 overs.

Bravo dismisssed Shivam Mavi for 20. KKR 164/9 in 19.5 overs.

Final Score: CSK 192/3(20 overs), KKR 165/9 (20 Overs).
