A 17 YEAR OLD GIRL MURDERED FOUR FAMILY MEMBERS
In Chitradurga, Karnataka, a seventeen-year-old girl was arrested for murdering her father, mother, sister, and grandmother. The girl was arrested three months later after the incident.
Tippa Naik (45), Sudha Bai (40), Ramya (16), and Gundi
Bai (80), all from Gollarahatti of Bharamasagara hobli in Chithradurga
district, died on July 12 after eating ragi meal. Rahul, Tippa
Naik's son, also ate poisonous food but was survived by medical
assistance.
On the day of the incident, in the evening, Sudha Bai
got home from work and she made ragi mudde for dinner. However, there was a
power outage at home prior to dinner. Initially, it was assumed that someone
had broken into the house and poisoned the food during the blackout. The
components used in the meal were forwarded to a forensic lab for analysis.
According to the FSL investigation, pesticide was
discovered to be mixed with the food. The police took ragi mudde samples as
well as the aluminum utensils used to cook the food to the lab. The police
filed a case under the IPC based on a complaint filed by Rahul, Tippa Naik's
son who survived the tragedy.
After further investigation, the focus of suspicion
shifted to the girl at home. The girl did not eat ragi mudde on the day of the
incident, which added to the suspicions. Then the girl was questioned by the
police, and during interrogation, the girl allegedly admitted guilt.
According to a press release issued by the
Chithradurga police, the eldest daughter of Tippa Naik mixed pesticide in
ragi mudde and served it to her family members.
Police also revealed that the child was being
mistreated and was frequently scolded by her parents and other family members,
despite the fact that her other siblings were being treated well. The girl was
also compelled to labor for a daily payment. This made the 17-year-old girl
believe that if she murdered her family, no one would send her to work or scold
her.
